For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. Romans 2: 12-13. The Mosaic Law already reveals God’s condemnation of sin, but the cause of sin lies in our hearts, that is, deeply rooted in our natures, not in the law. Since God judges people in accordance with standards known to them, a defense based on ignorance of the Mosaic Law is irrelevant and illegitimate. It is not the degree of revelation received, but the response to the revelation itself, however received, that will prove critical on the day God will judge.
